Information about the Bayesian Analysis E-Print Archive
bayes-an@xxx.lanl.gov is a fully automated electronic archive and
distribution server for papers on the theory and appliclations
of Bayesian Statistics.

The service, begun in April 1995, is a means for archiving and
distribution of electronic preprints on these topics. Subscribers to
the service automatically receive a listing of title/author/abstract
information for newly submitted papers on days papers are received,
and can retrieve the full papers from the archive. In addition, the
archive provides for distribution list maintenance, paper updating,
macro package archiving, and primitive searching of papers.
The project is sponsored by the International Society for Bayesian
Analysis (ISBA), using computer facilities located at Los
Alamos National Laboratory and software developed there by Paul
Ginsparg. These facilities have been used since 1991 to run the
highly successful e-print archives for
high-energy physics and related fields, which serve
about 25,000 messages per day (as of 12/94).
The basic interaction with the archive is through electronic mail,
although the WorldWideWeb interface (the one that you are now
reading) is recommended. The archive is also accessible through
anonymous ftp and gopher.
Commands to the system should always be sent to bayes-an@xxx.lanl.gov
with the command in the subject field (e.g. `Subject: help').
Outgoing mail from the e-print archive has the username `no-reply' to
avoid problems due to occasional mail that bounces back. Only one
command at a time is accepted.
