| A traffic light remains red for a period of time from 1 to 2 minutes. Let X = the time that elapses between the light changing red till it switches green. Suppose the pdf of X is as follows. f(x) = k(x^5 - x^2) 1<= x <= 2 and 0 otherwise Find the value of k, and suppose you get to the light the instant it turns red. Find also the probability that you will have to wait more than 90 seconds. Choose the closest answers for the value of k and the probability in percentages. |
